About Sharon

I began my Pilates training with the Australian Institute of Physiotherapy and Pilates (APPI) in 2017.

I have spent several decades working in sports coaching, coach education, physical performance, horticultural therapy, environmental education, and personal rehabilitation.

I remain constantly curious and completely in awe of the resilience of our bodies and minds.

My particular interests lie in movement in all its forms, healthy communities, balance and cognition as we age, reducing fall risk, and the potential of mat-based Pilates as a non-invasive, cost-effective research tool.

I believe in patient, consistent work to retrain and strengthen movement, celebrating the small steps, staying playful, and finding joy in the process. Away from work, I am happiest with family and being close to water.

I welcomes conversations that spark curiosity and connection. Coffee and cake absolutely help.

About APPI

The Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute is internationally recognised for its scientific rigour and high standards of training. Its method is built on clear clinical reasoning, structured progression, and a commitment to ongoing development. It is trusted by healthcare professionals worldwide, including the NHS.

Founded by physiotherapists, APPI interprets Joseph Pilates’ original work through the lens of modern anatomy, biomechanics, and research. The result is a clinically sound, adaptable system suitable for most people.

I am a member of CIMSPA and EMD UK and you can view my training record here.
